On 16 September 2023 our team at Vivid Snaps produced a 40-minute commemorative film for the 100th anniversary of Lee Kuan Yew in collaboration with People’s Association (Aljunied–Hougang). We crafted a narrative around two primary school girls exploring Mr Lee’s legacy across their neighbourhood, inter-weaving interviews, archival footage and original storytelling.
What was the main challenge in this project?
The schedule was exceptionally tight with a public screening date fixed for 16 September. We needed to film across multiple locations, coordinate many interviewees, and manage post-production for a 40-minute piece under significant time pressure.
What was your solution or approach?
We developed a distinct value-theme for each division in Aljunied-Hougang to add freshness. We designed storyboards to allow seamless transitions between divisions via the young protagonists, and we engaged a full-time production team working extended hours to meet the deadline.
What was the outcome or impact for the client?
The video was premiered during the LKY100 commemoration event, receiving positive responses from the community and local leaders. It successfully conveyed the legacy of Mr Lee Kuan Yew through an engaging storytelling format that resonated with both young and old audiences. The production helped the client strengthen community pride and appreciation for Singapore’s heritage.
