What was the main challenge in this project?
What are the core requirements for such a platform? We needed Morpheus to be:
Accessible
We had to find the perfect combination between the quality of the VR experience and its convenience. The idea of Morpheus is to provide a low-effort VR experience. The platform needed to be intuitive, well-optimized and easy to set up.
Adaptable
No more expensive 3D designers and developers for each update: Morpheus allows the content managers to edit their VR experiences according to their needs.
Ideal for corporate needs
There’s a variety of metaverse platforms for general useЖ Sandbox, Roblox, Decentraland and others. They function according to a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ approach, and the quality of the experience is often lower than expected.
Morpheus creates custom-tailored metaverses that provide business-specific experiences. The functionality revolves around what companies need in remote settings: spaces for meetings and staff parties, opportunities for conducting demos, lectures and presentations, audio and video playback.
What was your solution or approach?
Let’s see what features Morpheus’s clients enjoy:
Private universes
Big companies take advantage of this opportunity a lot: they set up a private VR universe no one else has access to. A universe may include an unlimited number of ‘places’ (=spaces), each for a specific purpose: client meetings, client demos, team building activities, daily meetings, etc.
Morpheus provides concierge service and assigns a manager who’s there to deal with any maintenance & support issues. Clients have access to the system for full transparency.
Smooth onboarding
Once a user gets their invitation, they fill in a form with their data, create their avatars – and they’re good to enter the virtual reality.
Morpheus is available on desktop, mobile devices and in VR.
Realistic avatars
It’s a must-have for all remote teams in the digital era. You won’t see your colleague in real life, but in Morpheus the core features of human communication are preserved. The avatars make eye contact, their mouths move according to the sounds they make.
We’re also proud of the way our avatars move; feet/leg tracking and gait have always been a challenge for VR developers. Morpheus’ avatars walk in a pretty confident and natural manner.
Rich environments
It all starts in the Gate world; it's a special ‘welcome’ place for Morpheus’ users. If you ever have doubts whether VR is impressive, Gate will reassure you that it is.
In Gate, all the elements of the place are interactive. There’s grass growing around you as you walk through the place. You can touch and pop little jellyfish flying around you. If you look up, you’ll see Aurora Borealis shimmering in beautiful colors.
Gate welcomes you into the marvelous world of VR, and we did our best to make this experience special. After Gate, users go to their allocated places. They are fully customizable: admins of the places may choose what artifacts are available, according to the agenda of the event. If it is a demo or a lecture, there’s a virtual presentation board, a microphone, or notes at the users’ disposal.
If it is an informal Friday evening meeting, colleagues may have a little get-together and enjoy some virtual beer or cognac.
Content editors are fully in charge of how their places are ‘furnished’: they can add or remove new elements right there in VR without the help of the system’s developers. They just take any VR artifact they need from the objects database (extra chairs, tables or glasses) and build a new space for their specific purpose.
Multiuser activities
Apart from the festive drinking, Morpheus offers other team building and fun activities. Users may play hide-and-seek or catch-up, enjoy a quest, or have a friendly boxing match. It’s a great way to pass the time between meetings, or during coffee breaks.
