Spare Chair, a UK-based startup, set out to simplify how users discover and book local beauty and wellness services. However, the founder faced challenges with a fragmented market and no centralized digital solution for independent service providers. There was no platform offering an intuitive dual experience for both customers and professionals, and time was limited; the MVP had to be delivered within just 3 months. We partnered closely with the client to design and develop a dual-sided marketplace that empowers users to browse, book, and review services, while giving providers tools to manage availability, appointments, and promotions. The platform features real-time booking, category filtering, geo-based search, and provider dashboards, all built with a high-performance tech stack using Next.js and Python. Spare Chair launched successfully in just 12 weeks, onboarding dozens of providers and receiving excellent user feedback. With a <1% bug rate post-launch and a mobile-ready design, the MVP proved robust, intuitive, and scalable. The platform is now expanding across UK cities, helping independent service providers grow while making self-care more accessible and convenient for users.
