AR and VR solutions for underwater photogrammetry projects

What was the scope of your project with this agency?
Ar-range was assigned with createing a set of 3d experiences based ont he underwater scans of caves that Submerged Foundation preopared.
From the beginning we knew that the 3d scans by themselves are not enough for visual storytelling. We needed to come up with a way to show them in a way that would be compelling for other divers, researchers and underwater archeologists.
They were to:
1. Design a unified style of presenting the underwater scans.
2. Optimize the 3d models for optimal viewing experience in Sketchfab
3. Create a set of educational animations showcasing the underwater 3d scans
4. Create an interactive configurator-like experience for some of the scans (including our 3d corals library)
5. Create a VR diving experience for a flooded mine scan
How did the agency meet or exceed your expectations?
Ar-range clearly has outstanding experience when it comes to 3d graphics and configutrators.
They quickly came up with a solid visual strategy for our underwater 3d scan assets. The raw 3d scans were optimized and placed on the Sketchfab platform. Then, each scan was presented using a variety of animation techniques - from virtual flythroughs, through animated 3d/2d maps, to fully blown AR and VR experiences. The results were presented on a variety of conferences, including National Speleology Society Meetup in West Virginia in '23 and Hidden Earth conference in Bristol (UK), getting some great reception. We will definitely continue to work with Ar-range, as their experience in 3d experiences outperforms any other agency we worked with so far.
